Pamela Thompson and Anita Adams—two women, one powerful vision, and a heartfelt conversation about what it takes to build a vibrant, soul-led movement from the ground up. In this special interview-style blog, we’re pulling back the curtain on Female Wave of Change Canada (FWOCC): where it started, how it’s grown, and where we’re going next.

We’ve decided to do things a little differently here—taking turns interviewing each other so you get a genuine feel for who we are, what we care about, and how you might fit into this growing community of conscious, heart-led leaders.

Anita: Let’s start at the beginning, Pamela. Can you share how Female Wave of Change Canada first came to life?

Pamela: It all began in early 2020. I was invited to an interview with Ingun Bol and Renée van der Burg, two global leaders in the Female Wave of Change network. That conversation led to an invitation: would I be interested in becoming the Canadian Ambassador?

I said yes—but not without doing my homework. I signed the partnership agreement in March 2020, just as the world was entering lockdown. One of the requirements was to establish a legal entity, so I dove into researching the best governance model for a national organization like this. I even enlisted the support of the Business Law Clinic at the University of Victoria, who generously offered pro bono guidance.

By December of that year, FWOCC was officially incorporated as a national, member-based non-profit. And on March 8, 2021—International Womens Day—we launched publicly with a beautiful virtual gathering. We introduced our founding Board and hosted a panel with three incredible feminine leaders. The energy was amazing.

Anita: What was your vision in launching FWOCC? What did you hope to create?

Pamela: My vision was to build a vibrant, welcoming community of authentic feminine leaders across Canada who are committed to contributing to a better world.

I had several intentions from the start:

  • Raise awareness about the unique qualities and value of feminine leadership.
  • Create space for women to connect across the country—and beyond.
  • Model true collaboration, both within our Board and at our gatherings.
  • Reflect diversity in everything we do.
  • Offer real opportunities for women to showcase their gifts and expertise.
  • And anchor our work in the global movement through aligned initiatives—like the Mother Earth Ambassador Program which is in one of the five global pillar areas: environment, education, economy, health and humanity.

I also made it a point to ask women directly what they wanted. That first virtual focus group in January 2021 gave us important feedback that helped shape our direction.

Anita: You chose to form a non-profit, which meant building a Board of Directors right out of the gate. What advice would you give others about building a strong team?

Pamela: Oh, I can’t stress this enough—you cannot (and should not!) do it alone. A strong Board brings together diverse skills and perspectives. You need someone who understands finance, someone who can lead when you’re not available, someone who can communicate clearly and consistently with your community. But beyond the practicalities, having a team makes the journey more joyful. You get to co-create. You get to model collaboration in real time, which is what FWOCC is all about.

Anita: Yes, that resonates with me deeply too. Life is meant to be joyful with everything we do. So how did you grow the community in those early days?

Pamela: Initially, I invited women in my network and encouraged them to invite others to our virtual monthly gatherings. Then, I reached out to like-minded women on LinkedIn. If I sensed alignment, I’d invite them to a Zoom chat, share a bit about Female Wave of Change Global and what we were building in Canada—and then I’d extend a personal invitation to join our next member meeting. Those one-on-one connections were—and still are—the heart of how we grow.

Pamela: Alright, Anita—time for you to sit in the hot seat. Lets flip the script a bit. Youve stepped into the leadership role just recently. What systems or practices have helped keep things running smoothly?

Anita: I’m glad you asked! One of the best practices you put in place—and something we’ve continued—is the shared leadership model. Everyone on the Board has a role and responsibilities, and that structure ensures things don’t fall through the cracks.

We’ve also created clear timelines for meetings, with pre-assigned tasks and a steady rhythm of monthly gatherings. That consistency helps build trust and momentum.

As for systems, we lean on Slack for internal communication, Google Drive for shared documents, Brevo for our email list and automations, and Eventbrite to manage event registrations. And of course, we stay visible and connected through our social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Pamela: So whats the secret behind the high level of engagement in FWOCC? The energy is real!

Anita: Thank you! I think the secret is that we lead with heart. We create a space where women feel safe, seen, and heard. We bring in phenomenal featured guests who we co-create each virtual gathering with—people with stories and wisdom that truly resonate—and we prioritize connection through breakout sessions and interactive elements.

And just like you did, we continue to listen. We ask for feedback, we evolve, and we honour what matters most to our members. That sense of inclusion and mutual respect keeps people coming back.

Pamela: Youre still fairly new in this role. Whats your vision for the future of FWOCC?

Anita: Yes—just five months in, and more than half our Board is new as well. Now that we’ve found our rhythm, we’re starting to look ahead.

While we’re aligned with the Global mission, I believe Canada brings its own unique flavour—one that’s deeply rooted in spiritual awareness. And to be clear, I don’t mean religion. I mean that inner knowing we all carry. The sense that we’re part of something bigger. That we’re interconnected.

So, our future is about creating space for deeper conversations and inspiring action from the heart. Less hustle. More presence. More authenticity. More being the love and change we wish to see in the world.

Pamela: Final hot-seat question! What have you personally gained from being an Ambassador and hosting member gatherings?

Anita: So much. Honestly, it’s given me a deeper sense of purpose. I’ve connected with incredible, heart-centred women who inspire me daily. And I’ve grown—both personally and professionally. Hosting gatherings and stepping into this leadership role has made me more confident and more committed to being of service.

Anita: Before we wrap up—Pamela, what would you say is one of the greatest gifts youve received from founding FWOCC?

Pamela: For me, it’s been witnessing transformation. Watching women step into their leadership, discover their voice, and begin creating change in their communities—that’s the greatest gift. It reminds me that even small actions can spark a powerful ripple effect.

Closing Words from Anita:

Thank you, Pamela, for your trust, your heart, and your unwavering dedication to this vision. And thank you to you, dear reader, for being part of this ever-growing wave of conscious, feminine leadership. Whether you’re a current member, a curious newcomer, or someone wondering how to get involved—know this: Your voice matters.
Your leadership is needed.
And the wave begins with you.
